The new year has begun with many different activities going on around the school.

This week we spent two lovely afternoons singing a variety of Christmas songs at All Saints Church, Little Melton. We were accompanied on the organ by Mrs Ganley and Reverend Michael welcomed us all. Thank you to everyone who helped walk the children safely down, and for all the parents who joined us for our sing-a-long. ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽ„

Itโ€™s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ We enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day on Friday and had a whole school run through of Lights, Camel, Action. Looking forward to a full and fun week next week ๐ŸŽ„โญ๏ธ๐ŸŽ„
This week the Barn Owls have been working very hard rehearsing for the Christmas Play, but they have found time to finish transforming themselves into Ancient Egyptian pharaohs!

Winter definitely arrived this week with frosty mornings and chilly days! We are heading towards Christmas now that December is here and practising hard for our Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ production.
Wednesday 29th November was No Pens day and the Barn Owls joined in with their largest ever ‘Show and Tell’. The children shared information ranging from Big Ben to thorny devils to drama shoes and some children even created slide shows to accompany their information. The children demonstrated their communication and listening skills with success.

We had a great week this week with lots of exciting events! A whole school arts afternoon preparing art for the church; a multi skills event for Y2 to go and represent the school and our 7 Cross Country Finalists who went to High Lodge, Thetford Forest to compete against pupils from all over the whole of Norfolk!
Pupils from across KS2 went to High Lodge at Thetford where they raced against pupils from all over Norfolk, representing not only us, but also the rest of Norwich – against so many more than at Eaton Park! Thank you to all the parents who were able to transport and be our supporters ๐Ÿฉท Well done to our brilliant 7. Our top finisher was a Y4 who came 14th out of 80!! Fantastic ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Schools all over the country were thinking about being kind this week and celebrating difference. We had Odd Socks day on Monday for this then a busy week as usual, ending with a non uniform day for Children In Need.

The Barn Owls investigated the effect that different drinks have on teeth by leaving some white hard boiled eggs on a selection and observing the results

We all enjoyed taking part in Odd Socks Day on Monday to mark the start of Anti-bullying Week. We wore odd socks to celebrate how we are all different. Craft Club also made some Bee Kind art work.

WB 06 11 2023

On Tuesday, the Barn Owls enjoyed a fantastic Ancient Egyptian day of discovery and debate at Norwich Castle Museum. They learnt about Egyptian life and mummification, looked at artefacts and made their own Egyptian collar. Their behaviour was excellent.

WB 30 10 2023

KS2 were excited to have a Music Worldwide Workshop on Tuesday. They got to work with Pedro Espi-Sanchis. He performed with a wide range of unexpected instruments, from pipes made from kelp to a bow with a gourd threaded onto it to make a stringed instrument. We learnt how even in the most remote village in South Africa they can make music from everything that they have!

Then on Friday we were able to transport 42 children from across KS2 to the annual Cross Country Competition at Earlham Park. Well done to all that took part and to parents who were able to come and support.
