Cycle Path

After completing the schools travel plan the school council became interested in the idea of a safer and environmentally friendly way of travelling to Hethersett when they move up to the High school.  They contacted the Parish Council about this and asked if there was any chance of a cycle path between the two villages.   Newsround heard about this and contacted the school to see if they could do a feature on this in their bulletin.

Well done to all of the children who took part in the cycle ride from Hethersett to Little Melton on Friday 4th December 2009 to highlight both the campaign and to film the Newsround story which was screened later that evening.  It just goes to show that what took all morning to film lasted for no more than 90 seconds on screen!  The children were brilliant, had to stop and start many times during the journey, but were rewarded with a cup of hot chocolate to warm them up when they finally got to school.  Special thanks to our ‘press packers’ Lewis and Harry who were so confident in front of camera you’d think they had done it many times before.

The event attracted lots of publicity for the campaign, and we will continue to work with the Parish Council to help maintain the momentum of this very important project.
