While the whole school enjoy the annual Den Day – in good weather – we reflect on another fantastic year at Little Melton. We enjoyed the Leavers Performance on Wednesday evening and then Friday was a busy day- bidding a fond farewell to our lovely Year 6 pupils who have done us proud for 7 years, and celebrating the end of another year of learning for our youngsters. THANK YOU all for your wonderful gifts and well wishes, and we wish you all a fabulous summer break

Our penultimate week before the summer hols had the Owlets go on a visit to Banham Zoo, Snowy have a beach-classroom day; Barn had pop-corn as part of a celebration and Eagle are script ready for the Leavers performance.
Barn Owls learnt about how Muslims celebrate Eid ul Adah. They enjoyed a popcorn afternoon too.

The Barn Owls had a busy week this week. They looked at science through art and then went outside and made their own Andy Goldsworthy art using what they could find outside. They are very effective!

Barn Owls had a busy week this week! They have been studying Earthquakes and Volcanoes and in groups have created a papier-mache volcano which this week they took onto the playground and watched erupt! It was spectacular!
They have also been learning about fables and this week they wrote their own for a class book. They are very professional! Here are some examples:
In RE the Barn Owls have been learning about Islam and they have created their own models to show what you would find inside a mosque:

We celebrated National Sports Week this week by having physically active lessons around school that were not just PE lessons. However we do of course continue to enjoy two hours of PE each week and our Coach Martin is currently teaching Cricket skills to KS2.

The Barn Owls were given a challenge over half term to create a Rainforest Diorama. These are their amazing creations:
They have started their new topic about Earthquakes and Volcanoes. So far, they have learnt about the layers of the Earth and how earthquakes happen. They enjoyed trying out an Earthquake drill!
This week they have begun a new Science topic about rocks. They had fun finding out about 3 different types of rocks and looking closely at them.

Welcome back! Hope you all had a lovely half term break. We have had a great first week back with our shole school enjoying Sports Day. KS1 in the morning, KS2 in the afternoon and a family picnic in between for those lucky enough to have time to make it! Thank you all for your support.

The first half of the summer term is done! We got to enjoy a range of activities this week, many of them learning outside the classroom. Have a lovely half term break everyone!
In Barn Owls we have read 3 stories connected to our Rainforest topic and we have also just started reading a fun class story that they are loving!
