Science and Maths investigations

Snowy Owls have used their maths skills to explore a ‘net’ of a 3D shape. They investigated the number of sides and how they came together to make a solid. Then they went ahead and made their own 3D shapes from nets.

Snowy Owls are also looking at how mould can develop on pieces of bread. They all touched one piece and did not handle the other to see if there will be a difference. Pupils were also able to look at their hands under UV lights to see if they were as clean as they thought!

You’ve already done half a year!

Snowy Owls have been practicing using Imperative Verbs – they went outside and using an obstacle course they gave instructions with these ‘bossy’ verbs. They had great fun!

Have a good half term break!

Snow Owls have continued with their art work this week, with a stormy sea and sinking ship, based on the dark and stormy pictures of Turner. They have had a lot of fun learning a poem off by heart and performing it to each other.

Art and Science

Snowy Owls have continued with their science on the water cycle and have done some excellent writing about it.

They have tried water colours as well this week

The water cycle

Continuing with all things water – the Snowy Owls have looked in detail at the water cycle and how it works. They have learnt the scientific and geographic vocabulary such as precipitation and evaporation.

A creative week in Snowy..

Pupils in Snowy Owls made some beautiful designs on a template for an umbrella, using inspiration from the artist Pierre-August Renoir who led the way with the  ‘Impressionist’ style of art.

Watercolour Art Work

Snowy Owls have been creative with watercolours this week. Thinking about how the colours work and what the trees look like at the moment.

Happy Christmas!

Snowy Owls wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Snowy Owls have had fun making traditional Spanish Tío de Nadal ‘logs’ that left them a little present for Christmas!

Light-up Christmas Cards

Eagle Owls have been using their circuits knowledge to create light-up Christmas in their DT lessons.  They have created some truly lovely cards!
